I did not have a knife on me to cut the fishing line off the turtle. It was very frustrating as I was swimming with the turtles for 40 minutes. However, thankfully, a couple that was scuba diving nearby come across the turtles after I had to leave them and cut the line off the turtle, setting it free! In this image you can clearly see the hook in the back edge of the turtle's shell as well as on it's flipper. Unfortunately, this is not an unusual occurance in Hawaii and around the world.
